Just in time for their new album release, ska-punk rockers Less Than Jake are heading out on the "Sleep It Off Tour."The trek, which also features Goldfinger, Mustard Plug, Suburban Legends, and Big D and the Kids Table, will visit nearly 40 clubs and theaters across the US and stop in Toronto. Dates kick off June 17 in St. Petersburg, FL, and wrap with a couple of early August shows in Texas.Following the "Sleep It Off Tour," Less Than Jake will head to Europe for a couple of weeks and then return stateside in mid-September for a few gigs with Rancid. LTJ's US itinerary is listed below and overseas shows can be found at the group's website.The musicians, who managed to extract themselves from their major-label contract, will release their first album on their own Sleep It Off Records label June 24. The set's title, "GNV FLA," pays homage to Less Than Jake's hometown of Gainesville, FL. The lead track, "Does The Lion City Still Roar?," is streaming at the quintet's website and MySpace page.Less Than Jake, which has been pumping out music for 16 years, is thrilled about its newfound independence."After a decade and a half of being in the band, we are now our own bosses for real and the excitement of that can peel paint off the walls," drummer Vinnie Fiorello said in the band's bio.In addition to offering up new material, Less Than Jake has also been re-releasing albums from its catalog, including "Pezcore," "Losers, Kings and Things We Don't Understand" and "Goodbye Blue and White," as well as "The People's History of Less Than Jake" DVD. The re-releases come with new artwork and a bonus DVD of previously unreleased material.The band's latest studio set, "In With the Out Crowd," was released on Sire Records in 2006.
